My favorite of this group.

Photos from a pleasant vendor. We enjoyed chatting about how much we like old photos and the stories we think they tell.

Another browser told us that she'd been in a shop where a couple was buying all the ugly pictures of cross eyed babies and nasty looking old people. It turned out that someone had asked them for some family photos and they were going to send those. My kind of people.

Doesn't he look like he should be in a W. C. Fields movie?

Another guy sold me a pile of miscellaneous ephemera for $8. He had all kinds of stuff like this notebook from a stockward.

After this I will be thinking of the Kuenster live stock commission company for all my livestock needs.

This had a lot of good pictures of mule teams.

I had to get this because of a long-running joke about my desire to go to the Modoc county fair. Despite this book's plain cover, the history of Modoc county is far from dull. Modoc has had more than its share of lynchings, Indian battles, and massacres.

The Ohio State Penetentiary aims to fulfill the proper purpose of a prison, to make its inmates truly penitent. You can tour the place for ten cents.

Tickets and a schedule for the San Jose Bees, who played in San Jose in 1969. The AAA San Jose Giants play there now.

A soft core men's magazine from 1957. Very ribald.

A feature on Briget Bardot. Ooh la la!
P7170279.JPG
Front strike matchbooks in poor shape but for .25 each, why not?

I think this image would make a great tattoo.

I went back for this doll after unsuccessfully trying to talk myself out of buying her, and I was able to bargain the guy down. His wife gave me a card with information on the maker that she got from the Internet. She thinks the doll was made by Florence Melewotkuk, 1905 - 1971, who lived on St Lawrence Island. I just love her smiling face.

An embossed silver bracelet of unknown provenance from my favorite Indian jewelry dealers.

Finally, the best three items of the day. Shriner pictures.
I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for this picture. This must be his daughter or niece, don't you think?
P7160216.JPG
This picture has it all - the old Reno archway, a parade, Shriners, old signs.

And this is, without a doubt, the gem of my people-in-groups photo collection.
